A standoff in a neighborhood near 8th Street and Country Club Drive ended peacefully Tuesday morning.
Police say this all began Monday night after the suspect got into an argument and shot someone at a different location. The victim suffered non-life threatening injuries and was transported to an area hospital.
Officers were able to track the suspect down to an apartment complex where he refused to give himself up.
Some of the apartment residents were evacuated to a safe location, while others were asked to stay inside for their safety.
The suspect left the apartment after a family member arrived at the scene, but Det. Steve Berry says the potential for trouble was really there.
"Just the potential for something to go wrong..either on his side or something that would cause the situation to escalate, there's always that potential for someone to get hurt and that's not what we're looking for. We just simply want the suspect to come out..take him into custody and we'll let the legal system take its course."
Berry adds that the suspect and none of the officers were injured, "so that's the best resolution for all of us."
The suspect has been identified as 27-year-old Chadler S. Chow. He was booked into jail on two counts of aggravated assault.
The 8th Street and Country Club intersection was re-opened by 8 a.m.
