How to Choose the Perfect Christmas Tree

  • Purchase a Christmas tree that is being kept in a shady, protected area
  • Christmas trees that are in a parking lot get direct sunlight, which dries the tree out
  • Look at the Christmas tree from all angles to make sure it is uniform and there aren't broken branches or grabs
  • At Pike Nurseries the Christmas trees are hanging so you can spin the trees - convenient and fun!
  • The Christmas tree should have a healthy green color
  • When you run your hand along the branch of the tree, the needles should hold fast and be flexible
  • A Christmas tree with stiff and brittle needles is too dry and will turn brown and drop needles

Christmas Tree Types

Fraser Fir

  • The most popular Christmas tree
  • Short needles and highly fragrant
  • 7-foot Fraser Fir for 29.99

Flocked Christmas Trees

  • If you want to create a white Christmas, choose a flocked tree
  • The flocking seals in moisture so you don't have to water the tree
  •  Pike Nurseries has pre-flocked trees available at all stores or you can have a tree custom flocked

Silvertip Fir

  • A hard to find tree
  • Often referred to as a Charlie Brown tree since the branches are widely spaced
  • The ultimate tree for decorating with large ornaments
  • Nordman Fir Christmas Trees
  • The most common Christmas tree in Germany & Norway, but new to the United States this year
  • Branches are evenly spaced and very strong
  • Perfect for hanging large or heavy ornaments
