Get up and Go: Christkindlmarkt

Get up and Go: Christkindlmarkt

Posted: Updated:
HELEN, Ga. -

Today we are headed about 90 miles north of Atlanta for an alpine Christmas. No doubt where we're going!

Our destination is Helen, Georgia and the annual lighting of the village and opening of the Christkindlmarkt. It's all Friday  starting at 6 p.m.

That's when the switch is flipped and decorations all around Helen suddenly start to twinkle and sparkle and flash.

Santa and Mrs. Claus will be the honored guests with plenty of candy canes for the kids.

Friday is also the start of the Christkindlmarkt at the Marktplatz . This is a traditional German holiday market with everything from gifts and decorations to holiday foods and drinks.

The Christkindlmarkt will be open Saturdays and Sundays from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. through December 2nd.
