A new retail store in the valley will donate all proceeds to the American Red Cross.
The Red Cross' Grand Canyon Chapter is opening the nation's only HOPE store on Friday at Scottsdale Fashion Square. It will be on the second floor, between Dillard's and Macy's.
Shoppers can buy emergency preparedness kits, first aid kits, first aid books, glow sticks and solar-powered, hand-crank emergency radios able to charge cell phones and laptops.
All proceeds and donations will go to help the Red Cross' four areas of service: disaster, sheltering, military and international. Every purchase is tax-deductible.
The first HOPE store debuted in 2010 at Desert Ridge Marketplace, after employees Grand Canyon Chapter saw a YouTube clip of a Portuguese Red Cross doing something similar.
