Are you counting calories this Turkey Day?  If you are, it might be scarier than you think.  According to an article published by TheWeek.com, Americans will consume an average of 5,000-6,000 calories on Thanksgiving Day.  Will that be you?

In an average Thanksgiving meal (complete with turkey, side dishes and dessert), there are an estimated 3,000 calories.  Couple that with the goodies you'll snack on all day while you're enjoying family and football, and your diet could go right out the window.

If you're counting, here are some calorie estimates that might surprise you:

Average serving of traditionally-prepared Thanksgiving turkey: 590 calories, 30 grams of fat

Softball-sized scoop of stuffing: 400 calories, 25 grams of fat

Small slice of pumpkin pie: 323 calories

Small slice of pecan pie:  456 calories

So, we want to know: What's your Thanksgiving eating strategy?
