Detectives are still searching for the person who fired the shot that hit second-grader Ahijah Geffard while he slept inside his Fairburn home.
The child's aunt, Amarria Phillips, told FOX 5's Aungelique Proctor that once doctors removed a tube from Geffard's side, he started to return to his energetic self again.
"We pushed him around the hospital in his wheelchair. He was even able to walk. We took him to the playroom in the hospital. He was able to play on the computer," said Geffard.
Fulton County police were seen patrolling the family's Fairburn neighborhood on Monday afternoon. Officers say this case is a top priority.
No one on the quiet Fulton County street was able to describe the car that the shooter drove. Police say Ahijah and his family were innocent victims.
Ahijah's family says they moved to the home six years ago because of the stability in the neighborhood. They say they even left their doors unlocked. But now they believe they must move because they say that they no longer feel comfortable in the home.
Anyone with information on the shooting is urged to contact the Fulton County Police Department.
