88-year-old Glendale woman conned out of $3,000

Glendale Police are asking for help identifying a suspect who conned an elderly woman out of $3,000 for a fake car repair.

On October 30, the suspect approached the victim in the parking lot of a Wal-Mart at 5845 W. Bell Rd and said her car was missing a large metal part, but that he had fixed it for her.

He then gave her a business card from an auto repair business and said this repair was normally very expensive, but that he had just saved her a lot of money. He said he would only charge her $3,000 for the repair, police say.

The victim said she didn't have any money with her, but that she would go to the bank and get some. They drove to a bank where the victim made a withdrawal of $3,000, which she gave to the suspect. 

He immediately left the scene, possibly in a white full-size pickup truck.

The suspect is described as a white male, 40 to 50 years old, 5'8" to 5'10", weighing 160 lbs., with a graying beard and short dark hair. He was wearing a yellow T-shirt, red or orange shorts, white socks and white tennis shoes.
