TAMPA (FOX 13) -
A mistress, a socialite, two four-star generals, and a shirtless FBI agent -- it sounds like a story line straight out Bravo's 'Real Housewives' series. But this drama is real.
"We have this scandal, soap opera, or reality show right here in our own backyard," one Bayshore jogger offered.
Consider the cast in the Gen. Petraeus scandal: A South Tampa socialite, facing threats from a mistress. And let's not forget about the power players at the center of it all.
"You've got MacDill Air Force Base here, You've got the military leadership here," another jogger said as he surveyed the Kelleys' home.
Throw in some "inappropriate" emails, and you've got yourself an episode.
But there's yet another twist to this plot line -- a seasoned FBI agent, reportedly seen shirtless in emails.
"I mean, you couldn't make this stuff up if you wanted to," the jogger continued.
That leads to another story line -- accusations of cheating.
"What does her husband think about it? I'd like to hear what he has to say about it," another onlooker said.
Media outlets from across the nation are camping out on Bayshore for a front-row view.
"Considering it's just around the corner from where I live, it's intriguing. It's in the media all over the world," a neighbor said.
"I mean, it's a sleepy town. There's a lot of money here, big bank accounts, influential people. This puts the socialite society up on the screen doesn't it?"
Indeed, the Petraeus saga has sparked rumors that Bravo is developing a Tampa version of its popular 'Real Housewives' series. But senior staff members at the network's headquarters in New York told FOX 13 those rumors are, in fact, false.
Which is just as well. Who needs a reality show when reality is unfolding on Bayshore with the whole world watching?
