Hundreds of union workers rallied outside of Philadelphia City Hall Wednesday to demand a fair contract.
Members from the American Federation of State, County and Municipal employees Council 33 and 47 attended the rally.
Mayor Michael Nutter and the union have been at odds over a contract for years.
In a statement, Mayor Nutter's spokesman, Mark McDonald, said the mayor's administration is willing to negotiate a contract that is fair to both city employees and city taxpayers.
"We need real reform in areas of pensions, healthcare and work rules, because we need a sustainable series of contracts with city employees going forward," the statement read.
