Could we someday see a 10-month summer in the valley?

PHOENIX -

Even though the valley is cooling down this weekend, imagine the prospects of 100 degree temperatures in the valley from April through January.

Can you imagine running the air conditioning for 10 months out of the year? That's what some experts are predicting.

Currently, the valley experiences triple digit heat for about 5 months out of the year. Some studies suggest one day it really could someday be an endless summer -- with 100 degree days for as many as 10 months out of the year.

But the state climatologist told has a different view.

"I don't personally believe that. I don't think our summers are going to be lasting from April into January. Currently the latest 100 degree temperature is in October, another few years we might get a later date for the 100 degree temperature, but I don't anticipate that being the norm," said Nancy Selover, state climatologist.

Selover did acknowledge that we are seeing higher overnight temps.
