Chicago Man Hits NJ Lottery While In Town To Help With Sandy Recovery

Posted: Updated:

John Turner was in town to help with the cleanup at the shore for Hurricane Sandy.  He will be returning his home in Chicago probably a bit tired from all the hard work, but he will also have a cool $100,000 to deposit in his bank account.

John and some of his co-workers decided, after a long day of cleanup, to purchase a few lottery tickets.  He chose a Championship Poker ticket and it turned out to be a winner!

John's winning ticket was worth $100,000.

"I showed the card to my buddies, and we all couldn't believe it. We started asking the people around us in the pizzeria, and they all said it was a winner," Turner said. "I was overjoyed and had tears in my eyes. I'm still just trying to take it all in."

Turner, 38, plans on paying off some bills and perhaps buying an investment property around Chicago.
