On Monday, Fox 5 reporter Joel Waldman was assigned to cover Hurricane Sandy from Howard Beach in Queens. Hours after arriving, he and his crew found themselves in a nearly deadly situation.
With waters rising fast, they were trapped with several dozen people in the Surfside Motel on Cross Bay Boulevard. The water was surging and seemed ready to engulf the entire building.
But everyone stayed calm the entire time and really helped each other out. And no one was hurt.
