A female motorcyclist from Glendale was killed in a single-vehicle collision on Sunday.
Sunday afternoon just before 1 p.m., Prescott Police officers responded to an accident at State Route 89 at mile marker 318.
They discovered that a 2003 Harley Davidson motorcycle had been traveling south on SR 89 when it left the roadway and traveled onto the dirt shoulder. When meeting the dirt shoulder, the motorcycle lost control and turned on its side, coming to a rest on the shoulder.
The driver, 48-year-old Patsy Banks of Glendale, was not wearing a helmet and was ejected. She was treated at the scene by firefighters and taken to the hospital, where she was pronounced dead.
SR 89 was closed for several hours. The investigation is ongoing -- however, speed does not appear to be a factor.
