PHOENIX (AP) - The Arizona Department of Transportation reopened Interstate 17 south of Interstate 10 a day early because repairs on a bridge were completed faster than expected.
ADOT says it reopened I-17 at 11 p.m. Saturday after finishing repairs to the Jefferson Street bridge.
The highway was closed Friday night between I-10 and Grant Street and was set to reopen Monday morning. The bridge was damaged Oct. 4 when it was hit by a passing truck.
ADOT also finished work early on the Loop 303 in suburban west Phoenix. The highway was closed between Grand and Glendale avenues Friday night for construction work on new lanes and was set to reopen at 6 p.m. Sunday. Instead it opened to traffic late Saturday night.
