Police sketch; Ryan Joseph FestaA suspect who saw himself in a police sketch turned himself in Thursday night and admitted to committing two sexual assaults in one week.
Police said 22-year-old Ryan Joseph Festa called his attorney and turned himself in after seeing a police sketch that resembled him. Festa wouldn't talk about what happened but officers said they had enough evidence to arrest him for two counts of sexual assault, kidnapping and 2nd degree burglary.
Police said the suspect came into an apartment near Shea Boulevard and Scottsdale Road through an unlocked patio door late at night on Oct. 18. The suspect allegedly came into the apartment naked and sexually assaulted a 49-year-old woman.
Police said the second assault occurred late Wednesday night at an apartment near 69th Street and Shea Boulevard.
A suspect used an unlocked patio door to get into a 29-year-old woman's apartment.
Officers said she was home alone and tried to escape multiple times while the man allegedly assaulted her. The victim may have left scratched marks on the suspect's face.
"We have had cases in this area over the past few months where we are finding out now that there was a person similarly described who was seen lurking in bushes and the police were not called," says Scottsdale Police Sgt. Mark Clark.
Officers are reminding residents to keep their doors and windows locked at night.
