Bob Sirott's One More Thing about the presidential debate format

One more thing, about Tuesday night's presidential debate format.

Obama aides are said to be concerned because he's only done one town-hall style event in the past nine months.

The Romney camp hopes their man is able to demonstrate that he can connect directly with the questioners.

Both campaigns have gone to great lengths to leave nothing to chance. TIME Magazine just released the "Memorandum of Understanding Between the Obama and Romney Campaigns," a contract signed by both sides.

Check out how detailed this is.

• The candidates may not ask each other direct questions.
• Audience members shall not ask follow-up questions.
• Microphone will be turned off after question. (remember when they used to do that at Chicago city council meetings?)
• Candidates shall enter simultaneously from opposite sides and shake hands.
• Best efforts will be used to maintain an appropriate temperature as agreed to by the campaigns.
• Candidates shall be seated on identical director's chairs with backs and foot-rests.
• No props allowed.

I guess that's why Gallagher isn't running.

By the way, there's nothing about the color of M&M's they want in the dressing room.

Maybe it would be easier to just have the candidates sitting next to each other at a bar with no moderator.

The bartender could yell out the topics while serving beer and wine. Talk about getting to really know the candidates.
