
Joan Elaine LaidlawVAIL, Ariz. (AP) - The Pima County Sheriff's Department says a young man riding in an SUV has died in a rollover crash in the community of Vail southeast of Tucson.
Sheriff's spokesman Tom Peine says 41-year-old Joan Elaine Laidlaw was driving an SUV and ran a stop sign just after 9 p.m. Friday. The vehicle then hit a dirt berm and rolled onto its side.
18-year-old Armando Daniel Hernandez was partially ejected and died when he was trapped under the SUV.
Laidlaw and a 16-year-old boy also riding in the SUV suffered minor injuries.
Peine says illegal drugs and paraphernalia were found in the SUV.
According to police, Laidlaw tested positive for marijuana and other depressants. She was arrested on charges of manslaughter and aggravated assault.
