Mark Kelly says Gabby is doing "great"

Former congresswoman Gabby Giffords, who is recovering from a gunshot wound to the head, is doing really well.

That's the word from her husband, Captain Mark Kelly.

"She's doing great. Two months ago, we moved back to her hometown of Tucson, Arizona. You know, I've been keeping her kind of hostage there in Houston, Texas for about a year-and-a-half. She was undergoing rehab there, in the hospital and at home and now she's home in Tucson and she's working really hard, she's in a great mood, she's doing well, hopefully, one day, she'll have to opportunity to go back to work. That's the goal," said Kelly.

Captain Kelly didn't say whether his wife planned to run for public office.

Kelly retired after piloting the last flight of the shuttle Endeavour. The shuttle left LAX early Friday morning on a 12-mile journey through city streets.

After the 2-day trip, the shuttle will be on display at the California Science Center.

Kelly said he'd consider returning to space as part of the crew of a commercial spacecraft.
