PRESCOTT VALLEY, Ariz. -

Two people who died in a double shooting Thursday night in Prescott Valley have been identified.

The two victims who died are 72-year-old Elizabeth Wood and her son 44-year-old Edward James Wood.

28-year-old Daniel Wood, son of Elizabeth and brother of Edward, was detained for questioning after the event and has been released from custody.

Daniel Wood told investigators that he and his brother and mother were cleaning the second apartment in a duplex at 3600 block of Robert Road. Edward reportedly owns the duplex and lives in the first apartment.

While they were cleaning, a disagreement occurred, and Edward went into his apartment and retrieved two handguns, according to police.

Daniel was in the other room when he heard gunshots coming from the living room. Elizabeth had been shot, allegedly by Edward.

Police say Daniel and Edward then got into a fight, which ended when Daniel shot Edward several times, killing him. Daniel then called 911 and reported what happened.

Multiple firearms were found at the scene, and police are not looking for any more suspects.

Possible charges are pending medical examinations and a forensic review of the evidence.

Anyone with information is asked to call 928-772-5176.
