Eighteen-year-old Shawn Walker had nothing but denials as he walked into Northwest Detectives under arrest on charges he shot and robbed a 53-year-old Septa passenger and held up a North Philadelphia grocery store at gunpoint.
When we asked Walker if he was involved in those crimes he said, "I don't know what you're talking about."
While Walker proclaimed his innocence, his arrest came just two hours after detectives released his mugshot and video of him in action during the grocery store robbery.
They say the video shows Walker just before the SEPTA shooting.
Detectives say this was also Walker last Friday pointing a .45 caliber handgun at the store owner as he emptied the cash register.
Fox 29 spoke to the robbery victim minutes after Walker's arrest.
"They just caught him," Fox 29 told the victim.
"Oh yeah, just now. Oh good, good," the victim said. "Happy to hear that. I happy now. Very happy."
The robbery victim, who asked us not to use his name, went on to describe being confronted with the barrel of a gun during the holdup.
"He put the gun in front of me. I say that's it. Last time in my life," he said.
Detectives say Walker was caught on tape stalking a SEPTA passenger on October 7th. When he announced a robbery, the passenger ran and police say Walker shot him in the back.
"I really feel this guy would have shot and killed him if it wasn't for the SEPTA Police walking around the corner and helping him at that point," said Lt. George McClay of Northwest Detectives.
Investigators identified Walker after Fox 29 aired the SEPTA surveillance video earlier this week and the teenager's parents called detectives.
"They did identify him. They are afraid for his life at this point," McClay added.
The tip that lead police to Walker came from the city's new Juvenile Enforcement Unit. Walker was on juvenile probation at the time of these crimes. Police say he cut off his electronic monitoring device last month.
Police sources say Walker is also a suspect in the gunpoint carjacking last week of a security guard at a shopping center near the SEPTA stop where the 53-year-old SEPTA passenger was shot on Sunday.
No charges have been filed yet in that case.
Detectives are searching for a second suspect in the grocery store robbery and the carjacking.
Anyone with information should call Northwest Detectives.
