New sentencing date set in Fast and Furious case

PHOENIX (AP) - A new sentencing date has been set for two people who admitted participating in a gun smuggling ring that was monitored as part of the government's bungled investigation known as Operation Fast and Furious.

Erick Avila Davila and Joshua David Moore will be sentenced Dec. 12.

Davila and Moore admitted to falsely claiming that guns they bought were for them, when they were actually purchased for the ring.

Davila pleaded guilty to a conspiracy charge and face up to five years in prison.

Moore pleaded guilty to conspiracy and dealing guns without a license and faces up to 10 years in prison.

Authorities faced criticism for allowing suspected straw gun buyers to walk away from gun shops with weapons, rather than arrest the suspects and seize the guns there.
