Scottsdale man accused of sex with 14-year-old girl

A 33-year-old man who allegedly had a sexual relationship with a 14-year-old girl has been arrested.

Earlier this month, a Phoenix woman allegedly discovered emails that were sexual in nature between her daughter and Clarence Oliver Tedder, of Scottsdale. She called police.

In the emails, Tedder stated things he wanted to do to the 14-year-old girl. They had met at the victim's house a few months earlier, when he was the guest of a family member.

The victim's mother ordered her daughter not to communicate with Tedder anymore, but the emails continued.

Detectives contacted Tedder and he admitted he sent the emails the victim's mother had seen. He said he and the victim often discussed engaging in sex acts but that he would never act on them because of her age and because it was illegal, according to court documents. He repeatedly denied having sex with the victim.

When the victim was interviewed, she said she and Tedder had had sex in the back of his vehicle a few weeks before. Detectives say their emails corroborate her statement.

Tedder was questioned again and he finally admitted to the sex acts. He was booked into jail on charges of sexual conduct with a minor, sexual abuse, attempted molestation of a child, and molestation of a child.
