Election day is in four weeks and take a look at the polls.
One shows the race within the margin of error in four key swing states, including one that will get a lot of attention on Monday: Virginia.
President Obama made a return appearance in California Sunday night. Not because the state is in play this year, but because Hollywood has some heavy hitters with deep pockets.
"The last thing we can afford right now is four years of the same policies that got us here in the first place. I can't let that happen . I won't let it happen," he said.
Mitt Romney meanwhile prepares to pivot to foreign policy. That's what an upcoming debate will focus on and it may be an effort to strike while the iron is hot -- with lingering questions about the attack on the U.S. Consulate in Libya last month.
Romney is also trying to build on some post-debate momentum.
"You all had the chance to hear his answers, or his non-answers. Now of course, days later, we're hearing his excuses. And next January, we'll be watching him leave the White House for the last time," he said.
But last week's debate will soon give way to this week's debate. Vice President Joe Biden faces off with Wisconsin Congressman Paul Ryan. Biden has no public events this week as he prepares for what will be the only VP debate.
Paul Ryan visited a pumpkin patch with his children over the weekend.
Was it a nice break from debate prep for him?
"It's very nice. We do this every year," he said.
Speaking of debate prep, President Obama is scheduled to do some this coming weekend, as he prepares for the second Presidential Debate next week.
