A fight between two roommates in Phoenix turned deadly when one of them stabbed the other one.
Phoenix Police said the murder suspect, 50-year-old Robert Guillen Garcia, tried to escape while in custody.
Officers said Garcia stabbed his roommate to death around Noon on Sunday.
According to investigators, Garcia told the manager of the facility that his roommate came at him with a knife so he took the knife away and stabbed him instead.
Peggy McGee knows the victim and said he was not a violent person.
"He stayed with my mom two years, he's a very good person," said McGee. "He has special needs, he never got rowdy nothing like that."
McGee's mother owns the home on Roosevelt, but rents it to another woman who she said, takes care of five to six people with special needs who live there.
McGee said the victim lived with her mother down the street before moving into the home three months ago.
"He's about 59-years-old and I used to take him to get a haircut and I didn't have problems out of him," said McGee.
Police said Garcia wouldn't talk with investigators and was combative before he allegedly tried escaping.
The victim's name has not been released.
"Very sad to see this, he's going to be well missed," said McGee.
