A camp counselor was arrested -- accused of exchanging sexual text messages with a 16-year-old girl.
27-year-old Aaron Lavazza, who is an active reserve member of the U.S. Marine Corps., worked as a camp counselor in northern Arizona. According to police, the alleged victim attended the camp and has known Lavazza for several years.
Police say he sent and received "sexting" messages over cell phones with the teen.
According to the police report, during an interview with officers, Lavazza admitted to soliciting the child for sex acts and receiving the images. Police say he sent her pictures of his genitalia as well. Authorities say this is in violation of A.R.S. 13-3553A2, sexual exploitation of a minor for knowingly instructing a minor child to manufacture child pornography.
Investigators say the teen traveled from Phoenix to Tucson to meet with Lavazza.
Lavazza admitted to meeting the teen and touching her.
Police say they have evidence of images and text messages sent and received by Larazza and the cell phone is in their possession.
Lavazza is facing sexual exploitation and sexual abuse charges.
