Authorities say five Gilbert police officers suffered minor injuries in a three-car accident in eastern Arizona near Globe Tuesday.
Police say the five detectives were on-duty and headed back to Gilbert after a special operation at the time of the 11:30 a.m. crash on U.S. 60.
They say the officers were in two unmarked police cars -- 2 in one, 3 in the other -- when both were struck by another vehicle that crossed the highway median.
Arizona Department of Public Safety officials say the female driver of that car was taken to a Scottsdale hospital with serious but non-life threatening injuries.
The officers suffered only bumps and bruises and were not taken to the hospital.
The accident closed the eastbound lanes of U.S. 60 for several hours.
