Man, girlfriend arrested in Tucson homicide case

TUCSON, Ariz. (AP) - A man and his girlfriend are in custody in connection with a fatal shooting in Tucson last week.

Tucson police say 22-year-old Jovon Mankel and 20-year-old Priscilla Rodriguez were arrested Monday in a city motel room.

They say Mankel is suspected in the Sept. 26 shooting death of 29-year-old Jose Carlos Gonzales in a restaurant parking lot.

Police say Mankel is being held in the Pima County Jail on suspicion of first-degree murder and possessing a firearm, which he's prohibited from doing.

They say Rodriguez allegedly witnessed the homicide and was aware of Mankel's arrest warrant.

She's being held on suspicion of hindering prosecution and unlawful possession of a narcotic drug. Police say Rodriguez allegedly was in possession of 51 prescription painkiller pills at the time of her arrest.
