Its one of the most popular hiking spots in the valley -- and that's part of the problem. Ever tried to park in Camelback Mountain's Echo Canyon parking lot? It's almost impossible on most weekends. But now the city of Phoenix may try to change that.
Monday night, the Phoenix Parks and Recreation Board held a meeting to discuss the trail renovation and design, along with an expanded parking lot.
The city wants to double the number of parking spaces at the trail head.
The projects will require closure of the parking area and trail for at least six months and work will begin in 2013.
FOX 10's Andrew Hasbun talked to hikers about the idea.
