
GRAHAM COUNTY, Ariz. - A pilot is dead after crashing a plane on the San Carlos Apache Indian Reservation in southeast Arizona.
Police found plane wreckage in the northwestern part of the reservation Sunday afternoon.
The pilot was pronounced dead when police arrived at the scene. He was the only one in the plane.
The U.S. Bureau of Indian Affairs and the Federal Aviation Administration will investigate the crash.
The pilot was identified as Adam Schmitt, 50. Schmitt is from Alabama.
He was flying with his brother to Show Low when he crashed. His brother was flying in a separate plane.
The pilot and plane have been removed from the scene for the investigation.
