Police: NAU student killed in hit & run accident

Posted: Updated:

FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. (AP) - Authorities say a Northern Arizona University student is dead after a hit and run accident in south Flagstaff.

Flagstaff police say 21-year-old Jordan A. Murphy-Mahoney was declared dead at the scene of the accident about 11 p.m. Sunday.  They say the Flagstaff woman was riding her bicycle and was hit by a truck that left the scene.

Witnesses gave police a detailed description of the vehicle involved and announced the arrest Monday of 22-year-old Kelsey Lou Cody, of Flagstaff.

Police say Cody has been booked into the Coconino County Jail on suspicion of manslaughter and leaving the scene of an injury or fatal accident.

Investigators say they believe alcohol was a factor in the accident.

Police didn't immediately know whether Cody had a lawyer yet for her case.
