Illegal immigrants head to DNC from Arizona

SYLVA, N.C. -

Many protests have been planned ahead of the upcoming Democratic National Convention in North Carolina and several illegal immigrants are planning to join them.

The "Undoc-bus" will bring undocumented immigrants from Arizona to Charlotte.

"They're just asking for justice, you know, dignity," said bus driver Juan Lozano.

"How would you feel to be identified everyday for being undocumented?" said Natally Cruz.  "Everyday we have a bus that leaves from Phoenix to Mexico, deporting, separating a mother, a father -- everyday."

Cruz says life as an undocumented person is not easy.  "I've been here 16 years...It's hard, being..knowing the fact that one day you may not return home.  And you know, the worst feeling ever is I have a 7-year-old."

When asked about the tax payers being the ones who have to carry her, so to speak, Cruz replied, "We pay taxes all the time.  We go grocery shopping..we pay taxes..anywhere we go, we pay taxes, so I don't understand where they're coming from..that we're burdening the tax system."

Organizers say about three dozen people are on board that bus, including 34 people who are in the country illegally.  Their mission: to put a face on immigration and stop deportations.

The DNC takes place this week in Charlotte.
