GILBERT, Ariz. -

One well-known Republican will not be at the convention -- instead, Sarah Palin will start the week right here in Arizona.

Back in January, Palin endorsed 5th District Congressional candidate Kirk Adams.  Last week, she decided she wanted to visit his voters in Gilbert, one day before the primary.

"I'll be in Arizona on Monday, working hard for Kirk Adams.  I'll be working with Jeff Flake and Paul Gosar.  Those three individuals in the state of Arizona who can be there in Congress to kind of wise it up," said Palin.

Adams, the former speaker of the Arizona House, is running against former Representative and Gubernatorial candidate Matt Salmon.

Salmon has 18 years of experience in D.C. He has the endorsement of Gov. Jan Brewer.

Palin is putting Adams in the spotlight as part of her mission to turn Washington outsiders into political frontrunners.

Palin selected the Gilbert venue Joe's Farm Grill after seeing it featured on the Food Network's "Diners, Drive-ins and Dives."

They served up free pulled pork and pulled chicken, paid for by the campaign.
