TROY, Mich. (WJBK) -

They walked silently in Troy near Rochester Road between Maple and Big Beaver. It was a surprise for a dear friend who is in the fight of her life. Carrying signs that read "We Love Lisa", the group gathered at the home of Brian and Lisa Nordhaus.

On the front lawn the chant began. After several minutes of "we love you Lisa!", Brian Nordhaus opened the door for his wife.

Lisa Nordhaus has been dealt a cruel blow. While carrying twins, she was diagnosed with liver cancer. Doctors delivered her babies three months early. They are now doing fine, but mom is still in pain.

Lisa had a liver transplant not long after the twins were delivered, but sadly her health is still declining. Her friends and family wondered how could they cheer Lisa up? How about a serenade on the front lawn?

Lisa Nordhaus was an active member singing with the Great Lakes Chorus, a ladies chorus affiliated with the Sweet Adelines. What better way to cheer Lisa up than to brighten her day with songs and smiles.

The idea was brilliant. Lisa said the pick-me-up was perfect.

"I've been just kind of by myself for quite awhile now upstairs and it's hard to get all your friends together at once or even just a little bit, and to have somebody put this all together and just tell me how much they love me is amazing."

"They did a fantastic job as always. They sang beautifully," Brian Nordhaus remarked.

Lisa told the key is to think positive and good things will happen.

"It's really hard not to be. I'm under 40. I have three little kids, and I can't give up for them or for anyone," she said. "My advice is just keep going."
