Don't spoil my Olympic dream

Posted: Updated:
As a sports reporter and employee at a television station, my typical work day consists of a non stop barrage of information.

From the ten televisions in our office, to Twitter, Face Book and News papers it's hard NOT to know exactly what's going on - moments after it happens.

But beginning last Friday with the Opening Ceremonies of the 2012 Summer Games in London, I've become increasingly obsessed by a need "Not" to know what's happening.

This grand scheme of tape delayed for Prime Time viewing has made "Information Elimination" my new favorite Olympic sport.

I've done a good job keeping an ear on the radio for sports updates - and tuning them out, I've also stayed off my Twitter account as much as possible, only updating stories I post from Lions training camp this week.

But the final uninvited straw, came Tuesday afternoon when I fired up my desk top to check out the latest rumors that have Soriano being traded to the Tigers. That was when I was inundated by photos and headlines splashing the latest results of the men's swimming events that have already happened today - but I won't learn the results of until tonight across the screen, not just once but three times.

On my home page, my AOL wall and again when I closed out an email I had just sent.

With that I let out a SCREECH!! Covered my eyes and took to the blogosphere to vent.

For the next two weeks I'm imploring all of you - don't tell me, tease me, taunt me or egg me on (Wojo) with any suggestion of Gold medal winning performances or upsets from the Summer games.

Because much like like the American network that is broadcasting the (tape delayed) Olympics stateside - I'm pretending like nothing is new on until 8pm - and if you try to spoil it for me, I'll put my fingers in my ears and very calmly give you my new pat answer "La, la, la, la, la .... I'm not listening!"
