
(CNS) A motorcyclist led authorities on a chase today from Orange County to the East Los Angeles area, where he was arrested at gunpoint by a California Highway Patrol motorcycle officer who intercepted his two-wheeler when it slowed for traffic on the northbound Santa Ana (5) Freeway,
authorities said.
The chase began about 8:35 a.m. in the Santa Ana area, where a CHP officer from the Westminster Area office tried to stop the motorcyclist for speeding, said CHP Officer Ed Jacobs.
The motorcyclist kept going, heading onto surface streets in the Norwalk area, and then onto the northbound San Gabriel River (605) Freeway. After the turned onto the northbound 5 Freeway, the CHP backed off of its active pursuit and followed his progress via helicopter.
About 9:10 a.m.. a CHP officer intercepted the motorcyclist when he slowed for traffic north of Indiana Street, said CHP Officer Ed Jacobs.
The officer arrested the biker at gunpoint. The man's name was not immediately released.
