Fixing summer hair problems

Updated: July 16, 2012 11:39 AM

Summer sun, swimming pool chlorine -- has too much time in the sun and pool turned your hair limp, frizzy or made your color fade?

FOX 10's Kristin Anderson shows us how you can fix summer hair problems with some ingredients found in your kitchen.

1) Add moisture:
Blend half of an avocado with two tablespoons of olive oil and apply the mixture to damp hair. Leave it on for 20 minutes, then shampoo and condition as normal.

2) Rid frizz:
Use coconut oil. Rub a dime sized amount in between your hands and then smooth it through your strands and braid them loosely. When you're ready to free them, your hair will have beachy waves with a nice sheen.

3) Boost faded color:
Tea treatments really work. If you're blonde, opt for chamomile, and if you're brunette, go with black tea. Steep four tea bags in one gallon of boiling water for five minutes. Let it cool before pouring it onto damp hair. Allow the tea to sit for about 10 minutes and rinse.
