PHOENIX -
A new skate park is set to open here in the valley, and one reality TV star is donating a lot of money to make it happen.
Rob Dyrdek, pro skater and TV star -- was in town Wednesday. He handed over a $50,000 check to the Dust Devil Park project.
The money will help the city of Phoenix build a skate plaza at the newly constructed park set to open in the fall.
"It's to build a safe skate spot which is basically a safe and legal skate board plaza for kids to skateboard at," said Dyrdek. "For me it's the idea of, as I've sort of been able to evolve in both business and stuff that I do, that I give back to the core of a community -- and that's places that actually ride a skateboard."
The skate plaza will make up just part of the 13-acre park, located off 107th Avenue and Camelback.
