Prepare to click "untag" on Facebook

PHOENIX (KSAZ) -

There's been some suspicion that people use Facebook to embarrass their friends and now we have proof.

MyMemory.com just released the study and the findings have a lot of women questioning their so called Facebook friendships.

18-year-old Celeste Montes loves sharing photos on Facebook, but only if they're flattering.

"You get to show everyone your pictures and stuff that you're tagged in," she said.  "..when you don't like a picture you're tagged in, untag yourself."

According to the survey, more female Facebook users should prepare to click untag.  MyMemory.com asked 1,500 women about their picture posting habits.  One in four said they deliberately tag their friends in bad bikini photos.

Two out of five women surveyed say they purposely put up pictures of their friends with no makeup on.  It's a move so low, even Celeste disapproves.

So is there an unwritten rule?  Don't post pictures of your friends when they don't have makeup on?  Celeste says yes.

Christopher Johnson would never untag a bad pictures, but he says this survey is just more reason to be proud of his gender.

"Us guys..we look out for each other.  I think it's funny when women do that, but I'm definitely happy I'm a guy," he said.

The majority of women surveyed said they uploaded unsightly photos after a falling out with a friend or as revenge, but Celeste says the goal is much more innocent.

Why do it then?  "Cuz it's funny," she said.

While you can untag yourself from a bad picture, only the person who posted the photo can permanently delete it.

If you're the victim of an unflattering post, Facebook will not help you if the terms and conditions are being followed.  They ask users to settle the dispute amongst themselves.
