COMMERCE TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WJBK) -

Police say a stolen laptop from Commerce Township is now linked to two carjackings and more.  They need your help to catch those responsible.

Police say two guys stole a laptop from the Walmart in Commerce Township on June 18.  Officers are now connecting them to a crime spree that started in Detroit.

"It looks like they brought the car from Detroit and dumped it for whatever reason in Oakland County, it may have broke down or whatever, and stealing from a couple of stores nearby," said Oakland County Sheriff Michael Bouchard.

Starting with a BP gas station on 14 Mile and M-5.  Police say they ditched the stolen car and walked there apparently for a drink.  Surveillance video shows both of them shoving cold pops down their pants.  With no way to escape, police say they looked for a getaway car and they found a man putting air in his tires.

"While he was out of the car and the car was running, he was filling the tire, one person approached him to kind of distract him it appears and the other person jumped into the driver's side and took off, and then literally his partner had to run and jump into the ... car as it sped off," Bouchard said.

The car was a black 2007 Ford Expedition.  It was an Eddie Bauer Limited Edition with the license plate BCJ 9466.  Police say the men drove it back to Detroit and used the credit cards they found in the car.

There is one thing every business owner can do right now to make things a little easier on themselves and that is get upgraded video equipment.  It's not enough to have cameras anymore.  You have to have a clear picture. That picture can save you a lot of heartache and police a lot of time.
