DETROIT (WJBK) -

"I speak in behalf of my family that we're not stopping and we need everyone to pitch in and help us as we seek and find justice," said Alanna Banks.

It's a plea from the family of 25-year-old Dalonta Crawford.  His family started worrying after they didn't hear from him during the Memorial Day weekend.

They heard about a body being found shackled in the 11000 block of Roselawn during that Memorial Day weekend.

"The last conversation he had with his father was on Memorial Day, earlier Memorial Day, and no one has spoken to him since then.  When we [saw] you guys first cover the story on Tuesday, we had no idea that he was ours," Banks explained.

They say Crawford was a good man and they really can't understand why somebody would hurt him.

"He was in no trouble.  He actually was a family person.  He had numerous friends in the neighborhood, and we know that whoever he got in a car with he considered a friend," Banks said.

Crawford was last seen somewhere in the Six Mile and Livernois area just before Memorial Day.  At this point they know he was tortured.  It was difficult to see.  The uncle identified the body.  They said he had been shot so many times it appeared as though his body was burned when that wasn't the case.

Family members went back to the scene for a vigil and found a bloody bullet casing there.  Relatives put it in a bag and gave it to police.  Now they are waiting and hoping you can help.

The family is having a hard time trying to figure out a way to pay for the funeral expenses.  Crawford has not yet been buried.  If you would like to help, you can make a donation at Bank of America to the Memorial Fund for Dalontra J. Crawford.
