A 27-year-old Glendale man has been arrested after police say he drugged a woman and had sex with her against her will, under the pretense of giving her a dental procedure.
Abel Samaniego is facing two counts of sexual assault.
Samaniego, who is known to the victim, agreed to assist her in a dental teeth cleaning session with his dental company.
Thursday night, the night before her procedure, Samaniego provided the victim with Triazolam, a sedative to help calm her and put her to sleep. He picked her up the next morning and provided her with two more crushed pills, court documents allege.
He then persuaded her to lie down in the bedroom. When she passed out from the medication, he allegedly sexually assaulted her. The victim woke up and said "no," and tried to push him off, but in her altered state was unable to, according to court documents.
He then drove her to 123 Dental Care where she called her ex-boyfriend to pick her up and take her to the hospital. She later called police.
Samaniego was interviewed and acknowledged to police he took two pills from his place of employment without the doctor's permission. He told police that she initiated the sexual contact.
Detectives say a text message exchange from before the assault shows Samaniego joking about "hooking up" and the victim changing the subject.
Samaniego lives with his wife in Glendale.
