Atlanta Weather Forecast - Thursday

After enjoying a fall-like start to the week, we'll see a breakdown in our pattern as moisture returns to North Georgia.  This means clouds and showers chances will really be increasing today, tomorrow, and through the weekend -- so if you've got outdoor plans the next few days, this will be an important forecast.
Today, expect to see partly cloudy skies and a chance for some isolated showers both in the late morning and afternoon hours.  The showers won't be particularly widespread, but many of you could at least see a little rain today.  High temperatures will remain well below normal, climbing up to around 84 degrees this afternoon.  The low dewpoint temperatures, which have allowed us to feel so comfortable this week, will also be climbing over the next few days.
Clouds skies remain overnight, with lows in the upper 60s, and then a chance for showers and storms on Friday, starting early in the day and continuing through the afternoon.  We'll call the activity scattered, but a lot of us will see some brief downpours and overcast skies.  Highs Friday will hang in the lower 80s.

WEEKEND:  It's the final weekend before school starts for many area students and teachers, and it won't be a sunny one.  Both Saturday and Sunday bring a strong chance for showers and storms, with cloudy skies both days and highs in the lower 80s.

TROPICAL UPDATE: INVEST 93L which has been around since Monday has failed to gain any significant progress due to dry air to the north and relatively strong wind shear. There is currently a 60% chance of developing into a Tropical Depression in the next few days so stay tuned. Get all the latest at
