Tempe police say a man has been arrested and charged with first-degree murder in the slaying of his former girlfriend over the weekend.
Police say 49-year-old Wade Eugene Bradford was taken into custody Monday night at a Tempe restaurant and booked into jail. His bond was set Tuesday at $750,000.
Authorities say 27-year-old Natalie Allan arrived at Bradford's residence in Tempe on Saturday night to pick up some of her belongings when she was confronted by Bradford, who allegedly shot her once in the back of a head with a handgun. Allan was pronounced dead at the scene.
Police say Bradford and Allan had dated for some time and were in the process of separating.
According to court documents, Bradford waived his Miranda rights and admitted to the shooting. The documents also show that a previous assault report had been filed involving Bradford and Allan.
An alert restaurant employee called police on Monday, after recognizing Bradford inside and remembering media reports that he was wanted for murder.
