Heart Attack Grill Closes after Spokesman's Death

A Phoenix-area restaurant that unabashedly touted its unhealthy menu even after the death of its obese spokesman has closed.

About two weeks ago,the Chandler location of the Heart Attack Grill closed.

The business' phone is disconnected, and so is the Carefree home phone of owner Jon Basso.

The closure comes two months after the sudden death of the restaurant's 29-year-old, 575-pound spokesman Blair River.

Besides the restaurant's provocatively dressed waitresses -- who wore skimpy nurse outfits -- the restaurant was known for its calorie-laden fare. That included the Quadruple Bypass Burger, French fries cooked in lard and milkshakes.

Customers weighing more than 350 pounds ate for free.

After River's death, Basso vowed to keep the restaurant open and pay tribute to his friend without changing the menu or his marketing technique.
