PHOENIX (AP) — A mistrial has been declared in the trial of a Phoenix man accused of killing another driver in a road rage incident nearly three years ago.
Maricopa County prosecutors say jurors were unable to reach a verdict Friday for John Chester Stuart. A new trial date has been set for Jan. 12.
Stuart acted as his own attorney in the second-degree murder trial.
His defense was that 49-year-old Thomas Beasley was shot in self-defense in January 2008.
Stuart says the gun accidentally went off during a struggle between the two.
