Mayor-elect Rahm Emanuel says he'll push for a second all-girls public high school in Chicago.
At a luncheon Monday, Emanuel praised the Young Women's Leadership Charter School of Chicago and said there is easily enough interest among parents in that kind of school to justify another one. Emanuel later told reporters that one of the first things he'll do when he takes office on May 16 is push for a longer school day and longer school year for the city's schools. He says that Chicago now has the shortest school day and school year of any major city in the nation and that has to change.
