Cook County prosecutors charged 25 year old Alvaro Sanchez with fatally shooting a Melrose Park man outside a Maywood high school seven years ago. He hasn’t been seen since, until lately.
In the last few months, Chicago FBI agents have received several reports of Sanchez being spotted in the Chicago area. However, those reports are unconfirmed.
Sanchez has been on the run from the law since October of 2004. Investigators believe he is one of two men responsible for shooting and killing German Ocejueda in the parking lot of Proviso East High School on Aug 30, 2004. Agents say the victim was there to pick up his brother after class when he was confronted by two men. The men argued and shots were fired. Just days after the shooting, Maywood police identified Sanchez as one of the murder suspects. But they were not able to find him to arrest him. Court records suggest that just hours after the shooting, Sanchez purchased a one-way Greyhound bus ticket to Brownsville, Texas, near Matamoros, Mexico. Initially their search for Sanchez search focused on northern Mexico and southern Texas because Sanchez has family down there. However, they believe he has returned to the Chicago area since he has family here as well.
Agents would like to receive more information from the public to help them eventually track down and arrest Sanchez.
Here is a description of what agents say Sanchez looks like. He is described as a Hispanic male, 5' 10", weighing around 160 pounds, with dark hair and eyes and a medium build.
Sanchez is considered armed and dangerous. If you see him, call police.
