Chicago Public Schools is debating on whether to end the practice of stationing two Chicago Police officers inside of every public high school in the city.
CPS Chief Administrative Officer Tim Cawley told the Chicago Sun-Times that every two officers cost the district $25 million a year. He said it may be time to re-think that plan.
Cawley said some schools may be able to manage with only one officer on campus. He also said off-duty officers could be employed instead of on-duty officers.
CPS is looking into ways to reduce costs without compromising safety.
