NEW YORK (MYFOXNY) -

The annual coat drive by New York Cares is under way. New Yorkers can donate new or gently used coats for distribution to the needy this winter.

Through December 31, you can bring coats to any of 280 drop-off locations, including any NYPD precinct, Grand Central Terminal, and places across Long Island.

The New York Cares Coat Drive collects more than 70,000 winter coats each year, the group said. New York Cares distributes the coats to homeless shelters, agencies serving seniors, and community organizations supporting people in need.
