Maricopa County Sheriff's deputies arrested three people Monday night for conspiring to commit a bestiality act with a dog.
Sheriff Joe Arpaio said the three suspects used the Craigslist web site to find a canine to fornicate with the wife while the husband and friend looked on.
"I remain extremely disappointed in the leadership at Craig's List.com for refusing to do what they can to stop this," Arpaio says. "While they aren't doing anything to stop it, I will continue to enforce all animal cruelty laws."
38-year-old Shane Walker, his wife, 33-year-old Sarah Dae Walker, and 29-year-old Robert Aucker were arrested. According to MCSO, Shane is a flight attendant, Sara is a self-employed photographer and Aucker is a car salesman.
In an interview, the Walkers and Aucker admitted their plans to engage in bestiality. The Walkers described themselves as "swingers" who enjoy an "open marriage." Aucker claims he and Sarah shared a fantasy of having sex with a dog.
"People who do this for enjoyment are a different breed, that's for certain," says Arpaio.
MCSO says the suspects offered an undercover animal crimes detective and owner of the Gold Shepherd mix to join in the act. They placed an ad on Craigslist entitled, "WIFE LOOKING FOR A K9" and an undercover officer with the Animal Crimes Unit spotted it.
They started corresponding and arranged at a Mesa hotel for sex with the dog. Instead, deputies were waiting.
Bestiality is a class 6 felony in Arizona.
The Walkers and Aucker face conspiring to commit an act of bestiality charges. In court Tuesday, a judge ordered all three to wear ankle bracelets, forbade them to have contact with one another, and forced them to forfeit any dogs they own.
The Walkers have two small Pomeranians.
